Man-Made Marvels

1816

The Point Judith Lighthouse was built in 1816, after the original one came down in a storm in 1815. A Rhode Island classic, the area around it is very accessible for the public, but the actual lighthouse is operated by the Coast Guard so access is restricted. Due to that, photographing it is not the easiest. This image was taken with a telephoto lens from a decent distance away to minimize the distractions of the surrounding area.
