One of the things I love most about Acadia, is the history behind the park. Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. The park service bought this parcel of land in 1937, however the National Park Service did not take over the lighthouse until 2020. Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse – Acadia National Park, Maine
