Old Timer

The Silverton-Durango Narrow Gauge Railway is a piece of history. Riding on all original equipment, you can take a scenic ride between the two towns, viewing beautiful mountain scenery in the remote canyons. The day I took this image, it was beautiful all morning. I had set up and waited for the train to make its way into Silverton in the late morning. And waited. The train was a bit late, and due to that, a storm cloud was able to roll in and start dropping rain on me. I had left my rain coat in the truck, but seeing as my gear was weather sealed and I was already wet, I decided to stay and wait for the train. I am extremely happy I waited, as you can see from this image it was totally worth it. The rain gives it such a great atmosphere. San Juan Mountains – Silverton, Colorado
