Spirit Island

This little "island" far off in Maligne Lake, hold a special interest to the Stoney Nakoda First Nation. They believe mountains are a physical representation of their ancestors, and due to this unique canyon surrounding the island on 3 sides by mountains makes it quite significant. When visiting the island by boat tour, you are not allowed to go on the actual part pictured here out of respect to the Stoney Nakoda. Jasper National Park - Canada
