Ineffable

The beauty of Yellowstone is hard to put in to words. When everything is beautiful, it becomes almost mundane and harder to stand out. If there is one place in Yellowstone that stands out however, it has to be the Grand Prismatic Spring. It is the largest hot spring in the US and the third largest in the world. This hot spring is well known for its vivid colors and amazing textures in the bacterial mats that surround it. Viewing it from the boardwalk area simply does not do this visually striking area justice, as it is best seen from above. On this evening, shortly before sunset, the sun broke below the cloud layer and lit up the rising steam so magically. Yellowstone National Park – Wyoming
